Bernard, Xavier, Gilles Win Brooklyn Bastille Sunday Tournament
A day of surprises. Not about the outcome: that seemed like it as pre-ordained. Well, only looking back now.
Everything was going according to plan. The street blocked off. The tents up. The sand on the ground. Uh, oh. Just not enough of it. Only half the court were built on time. And in the mean time the F train is doing the skipperoo coming from Manhattan. The show will be going on late, really late … as usual.
Eighty teams and 3 rounds of Blue-vs-Blue, Red-vs-Red later, now we are left with 16 teams competing for the main event and 8 for the consolation. The usual suspects from LBNY are still in the hunt for the trophy. Ti, Thiam, and Loi finished high, but lose in the semis. Jean-Pierre, Mo, and Franck Petronio surged late to overtake the surprising team of Pierre, Hocine, and Arnaud to make the final.
But the day belonged to Bernard & Co. As it should. Xavier missed only one shot in the final. Bernard and Gilles were equally impressive. The team only wasted 5 boules. The rout was on. A 4-frame fanny.
