JUST THE IDEA OF playing a tournament in the middle of winter … well, that can bring a shudder. Even if it is in Florida. But not for a few hardy petanquers from the Northeast. Mamary Couli-Baly (BOCA), an associate member of LBNY, who lives outside of Philadelphia, took first place in the FPUSA National Singles, beating Xavier Thibaud (NYPC), former LBNY. Roger Arpaia took 3rd.

Mia Kanazawa beat fellow Maine Boule Club member Cynthia Stroud for the Women’s FPUSA National Singles. Erin McTaggart (VOMPC) took 3rd.

FPUSA National Mixed Triples

On Sunday it was the Mixed Triples. Here Xavier Thibaud, Jean-Pierre Subrenat (NYPC), and Erin McTaggart beat Gloria Bergeron, Aaron Kianofsky, and Mamary Couli-Baly. 3rd went to Monique Gaudet, Elie O’hayon, Michel Robichaud.

For more info and photos of both days, go to this post on the FPUSA Blog.
