Joseph Hassoune, Patrick Hayes, Eric Bertin Win the WCQT

The New York team of Joseph Hassoune (LBNY), Patrick Hayes (LBNY), and Eric Bertin (NYPC) won the FPUSA World Championship Qualification Tournament in Sarasota, FL. They beat the team of Daniel Smith (BDL), Gilles Canesse (SPC), and Kebir Aguaouz (NYPC) in the final.

A small field of 11 teams played in tournament, one of the smallest turn out in recent times. 8 teams qualified for Sunday after playing 4 qualification games.

The semifinals was heavily represented by players from New York clubs, with 3 full teams from New York and 1 player on the remaining team. The eventual champions beat Ernesto Santos, Alec Sweet, and Emile Boujeke in a miraculous nail biter. Daniel, Gilles, and Kebir wore out the other team from New York, JP Subrenat, Xavier Thibaud, and Lucien Rakotojaona to reach the final.

The final was played in the parking lot of the park underneath the only lights, as darkness overtook the tournament. It was a different terrain all together and the team that adapted best won the game. Patrick, Joseph, and Eric will be representing the USA in the 2014 World Championship in Tahiti.
